Thrifting For Crafting
There are so many types of crafts that you could choose to make , I am someone who loves to make many different kinds of crafts. If you love to craft or are someone who wants to learn to make crafts then thrifting is a wonderful source for crafting supplies. You will still have to buy certain supplies at retail prices, but if you keep your eyes open you will find a wonderful assortment of items at thrift stores, yard sales, garage sales and auctions.
What would you like to try to make?
In my adventures in thrifting there always seems to be a great supply of fabrics, yarns, beads and buttons. Also you will find great pairs of jeans and this is a great supply as jeans are so versatile in crafting from making pillows and other home decor items to purses and some funky belts and even jewelry.
To save money and time you may want to make a list of the craft projects and the supplies required to make them, keep this list in your purse or somewhere you will be able to pull it out when you are planning on going shopping in a thrift stores or if you are out shopping those yard sales . Or if you like to shop on the Internet keep your list handy as you are surfing through all the vintage and thrift stores on the internet.
Crafting with thrift store finds is a wonderful way to make one of a kind items for yourself or for gifts for birthdays, Christmas and any occasion that you will need a gift.
You should also look around you house for items that you can recycle into craft projects that are beautiful and useful.
Have fun with thrifting for crafting. There is so much to do so get going.
I will be back with some other ideas and projects as I can get around to it.

Thrifting for Camping
Our Family Loves to go Camping.
At the beach and in the woods.
On nice days and not so nice days.
No matter the weather they love camping, of course we would rather have the nicer weather.
There are so many great outdoor activities from fishing and hiking to swimming and bike riding.
But we have had a few adventures that were a little scary. We went on a hiking trip and my son fell in the water, no big deal except it was freezing water.
Or how about all those rainy days we have run into and have not been prepared for.
Or even when we feel that we have over packed we still have run out of what we need.
All great times with a little bit of learning for everyone.
We like to go camping, but we like to feel comfortable also.
Our camping is in a tent but we have air mattresses for comfort.
Well we have become more organized and prepared for our adventurous trips camping. One of the ways we have achieved this is by shopping in thrift stores and picking up some great deals.
Some of the items that I look for when shopping for camping are:
Sweatpants and shirts. These are super comfortable and warm.
Towels we like to have enough that if it rains we don't have to worry about hanging them out to dry. We like to have at least 2 for each of us when we get out of the shower and 2 each for swimming and a couple extra just in case.
Cooking and eating utensils.
Tent
Blankets for taking swimming or just to lay out on wherever your heart desires.
We have all sorts of camping equipment packed and stored, I like to include as much of the extra clothing and such, because I tend to be very forgetful at times and even with a list something always gets left behind.
I keep these items stored in plastic bins and when we go camping we have an extra tent set up for storing all of our clothes and toys and games for the kids. When we have a rainy day the kids also turn this in to a play tent, we bring family games and set up a small folding table inside and use the bins for chairs.

Saving money while thrifing( Tip )
Check out your local rummage sales, find out if they have a bag day.
------------------------------------------------------------------
When shopping my local rummage sale it usually is a 3 day event and on the last day is bag day.
I usually go on the first and last day I go the first day and look around for the items that are more along the line of things I need. Then on the last day I go for bag day this is when I purchase all the things I will be able to use in my crafts and the types of things I might want but don't need. This is a great way to save money when shopping rummage sales. The one I most frequent have large black trash bags that you can fill with anything that is left for $3.oo. But I think that most of the other ones around have much smaller bags for around the same price, but is still a Great Deal.

I love using thrift store finds and recycled items to craft with.
There are so many ways to use recycled and thrift store finds in your crafting projects, to decorate your home or dress your self up in some cute or glamorous fashions.
Using your imagination is not easy for everyone, even if you are creative sometimes you need inspiration to spark your creative side.
Some of the things that inspire me are going into thrift store, taking a walk outside in the woods, looking at pictures in magazines and just everyday things that happen with my children or at work.
I like to keep a note book with all the things that inspire me, I add things like notes to myself, ideas I have, pictures of family or out of magazines, ect.
Then when I am looking for something to inspire me to do something or make something or motivate myself in some manner I will look through the inspiration book of things that I collect and it will help spark something in myself.
I love to craft, but sometimes I have so many ideas of items I would like to make that I have to write down all my ideas so that I won't forget and then choose just one or two items to concentrate on. Otherwise I would start 15 to 20 different projects and get so side tracked that I end up creating such clutter and then never really finish them. For some reason just writing down the ideas it make me feel secure that the idea will still be around when I can get to it, I don't like to forget things but often do so this makes me feel better.
I hope you feel inspired to get creative with some of the information that I share with you in this blog.
